Leading Edge Technologies

Dentistry has made great advancements in the last 20 years. All of our improvements are tailored to improve patient comfort, Patient Education, and patient satisfaction with outstanding results. Digital x-rays emit 75 to 90% less radiation compared to normal dental x-rays and produce instant results. Patients can see their x-rays immediately on monitors in the treatment rooms.

Our inter-oral cameras allow us to record photographic evidence of the situations in the mouth. Displayed and easy to see on overhead monitors, we can show you photos of what is happening in your mouth without the challenges of the old hand mirrors and weird angles. Questions can be answered easily. Explanations are visual and straightforward. A picture is worth a thousand words! After seeing their mouths, our patients discuss with us what they want done to improve their dental health and their gum health.

If there are more questions about involved procedures we have an excellent multimedia education program. Please ask to see our videos on just about any dental topic in which you may be interested. It is also possible to take home a CD of the short information videos tailored to your specific needs to share with a loved one at home.

We use digital photography to create a Smile Design to show you what you would look like with adjustments to your smile, like closing a space or reshaping a smile. This allows you to know ahead of time if you would really like the changes we can make. Seeing a photo of your own new smile is quite a refreshing experience!

We regularly use a dental laser to obtain the perfect impression of a tooth. We are perfectionists and this tool gives the desired result with our skilled use. We also use modern root canal therapy instruments that allow us to be exact and specific. With these instruments, root canals are finished in a timely manner, usually in one session, and with usually no discomfort.

We keep up on the latest in tooth colored filling materials that we bond to the teeth and cure to completion with a laser light. Researchers are always improving materials to find those that can be bonded firmly to the remaining tooth, can match the shade of the surrounding teeth, and can be flexible enough but strong enough to last a long, long time.

Finally, our office is totally computerized with all records, digital x-rays, digital photos, and financial information stored in our network server. For more information, please see the article Dr. Malkemus wrote for The Community Voice entitled “Dental Technology: How Computers Have Changed Our Lives” in the Patient Education section of this website.

We are always looking for new ways to improve our office and improve your experience as a patient in our dental family.
